12-6-09:
YES, I know its been almost a year since I've updated
things around here but I've finally gotten some time to spend doing
just that. I have probably 11 or 12 more updates to do including new
locations and revisited locations. Hopefully I can get those posted
sometine soon, but for now you can check out the new location Lincoln "Abusement" Park
which has been added under its own category tab on the locations page.
Check it out and let me know what you think, which is another update as
well!
Now you can also comment on any picture you want AND
you have the option to view the whole gallery of pictures of a location
in a full screen slideshow!
1-19-09:
York
Street Jail REVISITED! I got in one more time before it was demolished
so check it out, the pictures are up and are in much better quality
then the previous trip. 2 new downloadable wallpapers are also now
available from York Street on the downloads page!
11-27-08:
NEW FORUM! Join Xtreme Xplorations!
Check
out the new forum! You can now join the XtremX community and meet
other people with this common interest of photography and exploration!
ANYONE CAN JOIN! I've spent some serious time on it so go have a look,
it won't look like much until theres more posting though. All my posts
are on the website, this forum is for YOU! You can read all the posts
BUT you must join in order to post topics of your own. So go ahead and
check it out, there will be some bugs probably so let me know if
something isn't working or theres something you want added. I'm also
looking for reliable admins, all of which will recieve free XtremeX
dvds when its finished!
ALSO,
A NEW LOCATION, Worcester State Mental Hospital, has been added to the
Location section. Also more trips to Norwich State Hospital have been
made and more HD video filmed, so hopefully I'll get time to add some
new albums to those sections. Also a photo from this site taken at
Belchertown State School has been chosen for the cover of a new book!
Scroll down for more info and to check it out. I have several more
location updates to make so check back often and hopefully I will be
able to post them soon!
6-9-08:
Wow
sorry for the serious lack of updates. I have several things to
update but so little time. I've shot several different places and
revisited old ones with newer and better equipment. I hope to
have some of the updates up soon and have the Dorthea Dix Psychiatric
page back up and running soon. The DVD is coming along as well
but VERY slowly since I'm doing all the filming and editing myself and
I'm a bit of a perfectionist so it takes a while. Feel free to
use the contact page if you have any questions for any reason.
12-21-07:I
finally have made a REAL update. "Bangor State Mental Hospital" and
"Belchertown State School" have been added to the locations page along
with a full photo albums. A few wallpapers have been added to the
downloads section from Belchertown including one that was featured on
National Geographic Online. I'm working on getting more things updated
so check back!XtremeX DVDCurrent Status: FilmingLocations Filmed (in 1080p HD by the way):Norwich State Mental HospitalRivers Edge State Pen.Worcester State Lunatic Hospital
11-23-07: Wow. Yes I know there haven't been updates in almost 2 months, but thats not because there isn't anything to update things with. I am so backed up in posting the locations I've got. Heres an idea of what is to come: Bangor State Mental Hospital, a revisit of the Rivers Edge State Pen.,a revisit of Norwich State Mental Hospital (the violent wards), Fort Andrews, Fort George, Worcester State Lunatic Hospital (one of the first in the nation), Belchertown State School, and that isn't even all of them. So keep checking back, these are some neat locations. Also the XtremeX DVD is underway and from now on it will have its own status if you want to follow its progress.
9-2-07: I have spent the past few days cleaning up this site a LOT, well a lot in my opinion. I have moved the locations from this page to their own page and organized them all neat and nice. All the old announcements that used to take up a good chunk of this page have been given an archived page of their own. Also some of the videos I had posted for several locations stopped working so I went through and fixed all of them that I could. The service I use to host the videos however had a major site failure and 2 videos were lost in the crash. Also my hardrive crashed at about the same time and so the videos have been lost until I can return to get more video again. I know no new locations have been posted very recently, but don't worry. I have FIVE locations waiting on deck including a tour of an active Kirkbride mental facility. Its just a matter of time until it all gets posted. There may be a delay in posting because I have also begun work on an XtremeX DVD that will feature several locations, some that are already posted on here and some that are not. This will take some time so if you don't see updates for a while that is why.
7-10-07:
New
location added "Mass Mental Health Center" with info page and photo
album along with updates to the "Downloads" page and the "About"
section.
6-4-07:
New
Location added "Virgin Hill Hospital." Truly a virgin location.
New info page on the location as well as a photo album were added as
well as some general updates to the site and the "About" section.
4-24-07:
Finally
added the "Detention Center State School" location to the list.
So theres a new info page and picture page on the place. Also
added some stuff to the "About" section and the "Downloads" section as
well as the "No Tresspassing" zone.
3-26-07:
Wow.
After about 4 months of busyness and a trip to Hawaii and New Zealand
I've finally been able to get back in the game with the new camera and
get out and shoot some locations. So I've finally updated some things
on the site including adding the "Secluded State Mental Hospital" and I
have also made a "Downloads" page where theres a few wallpapers to
download. I've only got 2 up but I'm working on some more.
Also there are updates to the "No Tresspassing" section and the about
section as well as a little tidying up. Also you might notice the
new location doesn't have a video. Thats because I'm working on
an XtremeX DvD all this summer that should be released sometime in the
fall...I hope.
12-15-06:
Big
update to the "No Tresspassing" section. If you want to know what
has been updated you'll just have to check it out. If you don't have
access, you'll have to ask and be approved.
12-1-06:
I
put up some pictures and video from the H&M Coated Fabrics Company
but decided to hold off on the stuff from Central Islip because I only
had a handful of pictures from there.
10-15-06:
I've finally gotten back into the game and made some trips including a
trip to New York recently. So as you can see above there are some new
things coming but its taking a while to get all the stuff up. The
trip to New York was to see Kings Park, Pilgrim, and Central Islip, all
mental hospitals. Pilgrim and Central Islip are both semi active,
one as a hospital still and the other as a college. The secuirty
at Pilgrim was way too tight and security cut the Central Islip trip
short as well but we did make our way into a few buildings
anyway. So I tried to do 3 places in the one day I had in New
York and I was able to fully explore 1/150th of Kings park and part of
Central Islip. Kings Park was just too big and would require
about a week to explore itself. So a new vid and pictures have
been added to the new Kings Park page and some stuff has been added to
the about section as well and the other stuff is on its way.
8-20-06:
The
new location, River Run Paper Mill, has been added complete with
photographs and a video and some pictures have been added to the About
section also.
8-12-06:
A new video has been added to the -No Tresspassing- Section. Check back soon to see the real Fort Knox.
8-4-06:
Two
new videos have been added. A rare documentary on Danvers State
Mental Hopsital with footage of the hospital and its patients while it
was still active has been added to the Danvers section and the episode
of Fox Family's "Scariest Places On Earth" that featured Metropolitan
State Mental Hospital has also been added to the Met State section.
7-30-06:
A completely
new location has been added along with new video and photo album as
well as updates to the about section. A "No Tresspassing" zone
has been added as well which will contain photos and videos that are
not accessable to the public.
7-21-06:
The albums now load in seconds instead of minutes due to a new format I
put in. The photo album is a little less fancy but it is just a
photo album and now you won't have to wait 5 minutes for an album to
load. Enjoy!
7-11-06:
Norwich State Mental Hospital info page, video and pictures
added. Also updates to the random UE section with 4 more random
UE locations plus updates to the "About" section with new pix.
7-8-06:
Opened a VERY small store section where I'm putting up some shirts I
designed which are to help with the running of this website.
Check it out. They are on the expensive side but I don't have a
lot of control over the price because it is handled by another company.
6-30-06:
I did some site cleanup. I was informed the youtube hosted videos
didn't work on a lot of peoples computers but the vmix ones did so I
changed all of them to vmix which works way better so enjoy! Also
spent several hours making the new site logo and if you are wondering
what the picture in the middle is its a view from the attic at
Northampton.
6-26-06:
I found out recently the website is best viewed if your using a recent
version of regular Internet Explorer and not something like Netscape or
Firefox and of course, a high speed connection and a fast computer will
help too.
6-24-06:
Xtreme Xplorations officialy becomes www.xtremexplorations.com!! No longer will one have to type out www.freewebs.com/xtremexplorations, but that still works if u like typing
6-20-06:
Made a trip to the simply amazing Northampton State Mental Hospital
this past weekend and I went picture crazy. The place was simply
amazing and worth the drive. Unfortunatley I don't think its
going to be around much longer. Signs of preliminary work on the main
building were present but not enough to ruin the trip at all.
They mainly just made it very hard to get into by putting iron bars
across many doors and sealing up other old entries as well as
sectioning off parts of the hosptial with huge wooden walls for some
reason. Anyway click the link below to view photos and the a 12
minute video I put together.
6-17-06:
Added a random UE section for those smaller abandonments, that I
usually find while on my way to other larger exploration projects, that
don't have enough pictures really for their own album so I just put
them all together.
6-11-06:
Apparently there has been some trouble with the Met State Tribute Vid
with it not even showing up but I think I got it fixed. There
should be 2 separate videos on the Met State Page. Ones like a
picture youtube vid and the other is a Vmix vid which is the new 11 min
met state video. Let me know if the problem persists.
6-11-06:
Big updates to the Metropolitan State
Section. I've added more pictures from recent trips as well as an
11 minute tribute video of Met State. Make sure you check the
video out because I spent a loong time workin on that and $$ to get it
on the website so check it out and let me know what you think.
Also got my hands and a rather disturbing article about the place from
the 1970s so check it out if you want. Also Added some pictures
of myself and others to the About Section.
6-5-06:
I did some rearranging to sorta clean up the home page cuz it was
gettin way to croweded. I gave each location its own page so just
click the links below to view them. This also alows me to update
the locations if i get more video, pictures, info, etc. Links to
the individual photos are at the bottom of each location page.
6-1-06:
Some pages have music on them sooo if you don't appreciate my taste in
music jus scroll down and turn it off in the bottom left corner.
Be patient on the Location File Pages, they may take a little while to
load depending on your connection.
